Money & ATMs: The Local Secret
Morocco uses the Moroccan Dirham (MAD). It’s a closed currency, so you won’t find it at your local bank back home.
- The Post Office Trick: In my 20 years on the road, I always tell guests to use Al Barid Bank (Post Office) ATMs. They are the most reliable for foreign cards and usually have the lowest fees.
- Cash is King: While big hotels take cards, the souks and small cafes do not. Keep 500 MAD in your pocket at all times.
Getting Around: Trains, Taxis, and Drivers
